David at the Accademia Gallery – 1 Hour
One of the Europe’s great thrills is seeing Michelangelo’s David at the Accademia Gallery. When you look into the eyes of this statue, you are looking into the eyes of the Renaissance Man. This 17-foot- tall symbol of divine victory over evil represents a new century and a whole new outlook on the Renaissance.
We have also other Michelangelo’s statues, like for example the Prisoners, a classic example of “non finito” (meaning “not finished”), where one can truly grasp what the process of sculpting means. These unfinished figures seem to be fighting to free themselves from the stone and they convey us the idea of the struggle against the rock that binds them.
